Bidrage med feedbackMox Boarding House is such a cool spot in Bellevue! If you're looking to grab food, drinks, and play a variety of board games, this is definitely a place to visit. My boyfriend and I came here for the first time tonight to have dinner and play some games and we had such a fun time! It was pretty packed since it was a Friday night the parking lot is very small and was full so we luckily found street parking. The hostess told us that the wait time would be an hour or so but we were luckily seated after waiting ~15 20 minutes. We wandered around the shop area to look at the wide variety of games while we waited and the employees were all very helpful and asked if we needed assistance or had any questions about any games. For drinks, we ordered the sinnoh pearl, cafe la blanc, first edition, and a beer. The cocktail menu is very limited there were only four options to choose from. Our drinks were okay, I wouldn't order the sinnoh pearl again. My boyfriend didn't like his drinks and they weren't filled up all the way either which was disappointing. Would probably only get beer next time I'm here. For food, we ordered the five spice chicken bites and Mexican street fries for appetizers and the Mox classic burger with a side of mac and cheese and the chicken bacon ranch sandwich for our entrees. The appetizers were okay, nothing special and we wouldn't order these again. I enjoyed the burger and mac n cheese, they were tasty. The service was wonderful! Our server was very friendly and continued to check in on us despite the fact that it was busy and he had a lot of tables. The ambiance is really cool as well. I've never been somewhere like this before. There's different sections main dining area, game shop, private bar area, tournament room, and a trading card room. It's a pretty loud place with mostly everyone playing games over dinner but it's such a great time and we'll definitely be back!
This is a place where it's definitely worth checking their event schedule before you go. We popped in on a night where they were having trivia and a puzzle event, so seating was limited. We put our name down on the restaurant list, and got a table in about 45 mins. Once seated, the waiter took our order and wasn't seen again for quite some time. Ended up placing a second drink order and food with someone else, which was fine. No silverware or anything provided, we had to ask another (third) person. It's pretty loud in the restaurant with everyone chatting and playing games, and be prepared for the occasional yell when someone wins. Food is good! I had the chicken bacon ranch and the tofu bites. Both were really good! I wish they had a bigger cocktail menu (there were only 3) but they do have a full bar if you know what you want, along with coffee. Wasn't a fan of their coffee based cocktail, it curdled within minutes. Great spot to buy MTG if you need anything, from sleeves to boosters. They have a good selection. The worst thing about this spot is parking. It's super limited, and depending on the time you go, you cannot use neighboring businesses lots. We went at 6:30, so surround businesses were closed and all was fair game. I circled for about 5 mins before I found a spot. If you like MTG, DND, or playing board games, I highly recommend this spot! It's great!
I went to Mox Boarding House for the first time and it is amazing! They have a free parking lot, but it gets busy so you may have to park further away. I was with a small group (5 people) on a Thursday evening. I was kind of bummed out because there was a long wait to sit in the restaurant. However, there were plenty of open tables in the main store area. I asked a worker and they said we could order at the bar and they would bring the food to our table. I just ordered the first thing I saw on the menu, which is the Mox Classic (a cheeseburger and fries). It was really good and I would definitely order it again! You can borrow a game to play at the front desk. They suggested a card game called Chameleon. It was perfect for the number of people we had and the casual vibe we were going for.
I've come here before just to browse, but this time I came with three friends to play games! The game selection for purchase is pretty amazing, and I love that this store also has a huge jigsaw puzzle space, so that you can really pick one that fits you or your giftee's aesthetic. The food itself is decent not the best you can get at the price, but reasonably tasty bar food. It was a bit awkward to play a board game at a four person table though, along with food and drink, because there really wasn't enough space for it (or barely was). We came on a Friday night, and it was packed! I'd recommend making reservations I think we were lucky to get a table without one, and we were unable to switch tables either due to holds. I think if I came again, I'd skip the food entirely, maybe get a drink per person to enjoy while playing. The food was really the most difficult part of navigating the smaller table. If you wanted to be here for an extended period of time, maybe taking a break to eat instead of playing while eating would be the more correct procedure. Will add a comment that there might've been some pieces missing in their copy of Cascadia, according to the person at our table who plays that game all the time. But overall, it was a very fun time, and I had such a good time and would definitely come again.
5/5 experience and 2.5/5 stars on food. I've been to the Mox in Seattle and have similar comments about the Bellevue location. I highly recommend Mox for the gaming experience and ambience, and definitely not for the food. My group and I had a fun time playing a few games with our appetizers. We ordered the five-spice chicken bites which was their take on Taiwanese popcorn chicken and the Mexican street fries. We finished the chicken but not the fries since they tasted pretty bad. The menu description says they're crispy battered, but they were just normal fries with an odd combo of seasonings.
