Chips R' Russ - Redcar and Cleveland

We stopped in for some Fishcake and Chips before a day at the races, our first time visiting this restaurant. It definitely won't be our last! We received a warm welcome from the young lady at the register and the couple preparing the food. The Fish Cake was packed with flavorful fish and the portion of chips was huge. It was great value for money. Thank you so much!

I visited the restaurant today on June 2nd. The fish and chips with mushy peas were very good. The service was friendly. Overall, well done and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

Best fish and chip shop in town. Wonderfully tasty and brilliant service. Definately three cheers from us!

Good socially distant service. Had the best fish patties we’ve had . Loads of fish between 2 thin slices of potato. Delicious. Batter was lovely and crispy covering nice white cod. First we’ve been to chip r russ for a while but will make my first choice on my next visit to Redcar

Cold wet Sunday and unfamiliar with Redcar needed somewhere cheap and cheerful to eat with 3 kids. We dropped lucky and got 5 seats as someone else was leaving. The inside seating is on high stools at the side of the shop so bear this in mind if you have any mobility problems there isn 't a lot of room! It 's bang on the seafront so you would expect it to be busy and to be frank it didn 't appear to have much competition. Unlike some reviewers I like my chips a pale golden colour and I was very satisfied with the quality of those on offer here. However the portion sizes were really small (but also reflected in the price it 's £8 for fish and chips where we live £5.10 at this place and the fish was very, very dry. I like a bit of clagg in my batter (sorry for the use of a totally Yorkshire word there, I can 't translate it... and I didn 't enjoy the fish at all. However it has to be said that the place was clean and tidy and the staff were very friendly. It also only cost us £20 for 5 drinks, 2 f&c, 2 chips and one burger and chips. The uninitiated should beware the burgers are battered! One very disappointed little lad was not expecting this at all! No customer toilets that we could see.
