Peters' Drive-In - Red Deer

Not quite what I remembered as a kid in Calgary. Portion sizes are great and generous. The milk shakes are great. An all around good drive-in.

I finally got around to trying Peter’s after years of living in Alberta. I do not understand the hype. The cheeseburger was awful! I took two bites and took it back because the bun was so soggy, it was like biting into wet bread. The second one was exactly the same. Such a disappointment. None of our family of four was able to finish their meals. Not only were the burgers horrible, the fries weren’t cooked enough. We also ALL ended up with upset stomachs. I will never eat here again and I’d encourage others to skip it too. I feel physically sick just writing this and remembering our experience.

These folks have it on lock. Peters' is...well, Peter's, and if you're expecting anything beyond a reasonable burger, milkshake, or ungodly amount of fries you're in the wrong place. However, those things are still perfect, reasonably priced, tasty, and served about as quickly as they can be. There's usually a line, but they keep it moving like the pros they are, and everyone leaves happy. A must stop on any trip through town, or so my kids tell me.

Passing through red deer and stopped at the peters drive-in in gasoline alley. I went through the drive-through and on the sign it had today six dollar milkshakes on their sign. I ordered a coconut milkshake. When I got to the window she said it’s 718 now my math isn’t that great but the GST in Alberta is not $1.18 I paid for the milkshake I’m on the highway and basically what I got was a soft serve ice cream in a cup zero coconut flavour and taste like garbage. A coconut milkshake should taste like a coconut milkshake not stale soft serve vanilla, ice cream shame on you, peters drive-in you used to be so good.

I went to this store to purchase food and I wanted to pay with $50. The manager tells me that he doesn’t have change, even though the cashier had 2 bills of $20 change in her hands. His reason was because he needs the change for other costumers. How? For him to need 2 bills of $20 for any other client, they would have to also pay with a $50/$100 bill. Because there is no other bill that will be needed to use $20 as change! If any other client pays with $100 he can easily use my $50 bill to give them as change. So my business doesn’t matter, because he is more worried about future costumers that aren’t even there yet. This store will never see my face again nor the faces of people that are part of my network! PERIOD!!!
