My wife and I spent three nights at the Château Domaine de Ravenoville about 300 yards from L’Escale. We, of course, had a rental car that allowed us to explore the D-day landing beaches as well as the small villages and beautiful scenery of upper Normandy. We had noticed this restaurant in passing, on our way to and fro, during our first 2 nights and days. On day 3 we chilled from the ongoing rush to explore and stayed at our rented house relaxing. I was very careful and conscious of any drinking and driving so this day allowed us to share a bottle of wonderful French red. We had some sandwich makings, fruit and cheese that we intended to share for our evening dinner. At the last moment we decided to walk to the cafe in the adjacent village of Ste-Mere- Ellie’s where L’Escale is located. The cafe is small and humble but don’t let that give false assumptions. I ordered the roasted chicken dinner and my wife ordered the locally harvested black mussels. Wow! I had ordered the mussels the night before in an exclusive restaurant in St. Bayeux and they were very good, but could not compare with the size, preparation and taste of these mussels. Wow! The chicken was 1/2 chicken with salad and all trimmings. The staff was so helpful and personable that it made the dinner one of our fondest meals and memories of our 2 week holiday. Wow! Highly recommend!
Hello, as usual, everything's on top! From the quality, to the atmosphere, to the decor, small bar, restaurant, supérette who pays no mine but who are super pleasant!
Friendly welcome, a very warm atmosphere! The guts were excellent, and the head of calf, we had never eaten so good!! A quality home cuisine, at a reasonable price for aperitif, a very rich dish and a good dessert. An address to remember! Thank you for this very good evening!!
I had a UNIQUE time eating it. As part of the holy traditions of the very powerful village of Saint-Marc-Ouf, I was also able to attend the meeting of a Paddle and a Chico. Exceptional! When do we want or QUOICOUBEH???!!!! ICM IAB
