Botan Sushi - Rancho Cordova

Update: As of 3/15/2019, this restuarant appears to have closed their doors for good. They were locked up tight during business hours. Always a tasty and filling lunch for less than $10 get bento box with miso soup, meat entrée, tempura, pot sticker, rice and a salad.

The people are nice, the service is great, the food is affordable and the sushi chef actually knows what he's doing. i'd recommend the special rolls but so far it's all been delectable. thanks botan!

We always go for the Teriyaki Chicken Bento Box and choose the tempura with gyoza. The service is fantastic, and you can really feel the authentic, cozy vibe of a family-run establishment. There's wonderful, relaxing music playing while we savor our dinner. Sushi Chef Roger consistently prepares special rolls for my family, and we couldn't be happier!

For the price, the sushi here is fantastic—just $5.95 for rolls? Yes, please! Unlike some other places, the sushi isn’t overly drenched in sauce. This spot feels genuinely authentic, or at least as authentic as you can get in Rancho Cordova. The location and atmosphere of the restaurant could use some improvement, but it's like a charming little hidden gem. Overall, this has become my new favorite place!

I returned for a second visit with a group of six people, including myself, because I was really impressed by the extensive AYCE menu from my first visit. However, to my surprise, we found out that unless our entire party orders the AYCE dinner, it's not available. This exception was not posted anywhere. So, if you see their sign on the road and that’s what you’re hoping for, keep driving unless you can convince everyone in your group to order the AYCE. I really think this is a terrible policy.
