Bidrage med feedbackLocated at the edge of UP Diliman's Technohub, at Microtel, it is surprising that the BPO foodies have not discovered Millie's All Day Dining yet. While the inside looks rather generic, the food is anything but. The ones we tasted were well made and tasted the way they should be - classic and on point. Where most restaurants go for fusion cuisine or have adapted their flavors for the market, Millie's food stays true to the dishes' roots. To start, the pumpkin soup was creamy and you could tell that no extenders were used. The best dish we had and Millie's hidden jewel is the Burrata Caprese, usually made with cheese (the burrata - made with mozzarella and cream), tomatoes, olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Millie's best seller is their baby back ribs (half slab) and it's easy to see why. The ribs are tender and seasoned just right. The Hainanese chicken was also tender with the sauces enhancing its flavors. Millie's also has really good seafood dishes - al dente seafood marinara, nicely-seasoned pan seared blue marlin and salmon, great not just for Holy Week but for summer. They also have really great shakes and desserts to bookend your meal. The gelato is highly recommended, especially the siling labuyo with orange swits. It's not too spicy. If you're trying to impress your date or loved one, Millie's comes highly recommended. June 2017Back here after an event for a sandwich and this club sandwich does not disappoint. They also seasoned their fries with paprika which gives it a nice, quiet zing. The service was fast and efficient and pleasant as always.
Careless Bar Staff is a phrase I could tag this joint. We encountered not one but two mistakes from them on what could have been an easy relaxing night. First- The margarita was served in a martini glass. Minor mistake...but wait for the second... Second- The pina colada was not pineapple but was mistakenly mixed with mango. They offered a new pina collada free of charge but we begged off as we might ran into another frustration with them.
Millie's is named after the mother of the President of Microtel. Some of the dishes served in this resto is from the old recipes of Millie. We dined at their UP Technohub branch. Their menu is basically hotel comfort food, meaning that the food is from around the globe. No specific region or cuisine that they specialize in. The tasting event made us taste some of their lenten/monthly menus. We had their Pumpkin Soup, nice and light. Their Burrata is awesome, very simple. Nice gooey imported buffalo mozza filled with cheese, drizzled with oil and topped with cherry tomatoes. They also served us their Marlin, Salmon, Hainanese chicken, and ribs for their main courses. The Marlin was cooked perfectly that was served with a mango salsa and mashed potato. The Salmon was cooked with a nice crust and served with lemon butter sauce. The Hainanese, is one of their popular dish, it was flavorful, abit dry. I, personally, wasn't fan of their Ribs. It's basting is very Asian in flavor, soy based. For the desserts, the Panna cotta was a major fail for me. The texture is literally like gelatin. Too dense. Their gelato has creative flavors like orange swits (candy) and chili or the Flat Top and Chocnut. Flat Top and chocnut gelato was my favorite, because of the chocnut. :D Millie's food is quite pricey for the food they serve and is just right for the hotel's menu. It could be a little better in terms of food quality and variety. It lacks identity and character. They could've served a more interesting comfort food to attract non-guest customers. #TheFoodCrawlers #SplatMNL #OngsFoodprints
