Bidrage med feedbackThe Rees Hotel is perfectly appointed with spectacular views of the Remarkables; it's a view you will never forget. The staff are so warm and welcoming. The rooms are spotless and very comfortable. Accessible parking or use the complimentary bus back and forth to the town centre, a 10-15min drive away. It ticked all the boxes and we will be back next year for sure. Service: 5

We were blown away with our stay at The Rees in Queenstown. The accommodation was immaculate with views of the lake had a great location. The overall service the reception team were outstanding. The restaurant was unexpected, we had the 3 course dinner pairing menu every meal was amazing. The staff are passionate about what they do, what they serve are super friendly. The meals were all very authentic paired so well with the wine they provided. The buffet breakfast was exactly what we needed, it had everything from Continential to cooked everything in between. We def recommend The Rees to anyone staying in Queenstown. Rooms: The rooms have everything you need. They are clean, tidy, self contained, lovely fire heat pump making it super cozy romantic Walkability: Super close to town either by car or walking or you can brave the cold.
My family and I had a deeply unsatisfactory experience during our recent stay at The Rees Hotel in Queenstown. Upon our arrival on February 28, 2024, we were met with an appalling level of service from the staff, particularly from an American employee named Tae (apologies if misspelled). Her demeanor during check in was dismissive and unprofessional, failing to meet even the basic standards of hospitality. We had specifically reserved a Superior 2 Bedroom 2 Bathroom Apartment with a Lake view, at a staggering cost of USD 1500 (NZD 2414) for two nights the highest rate we have ever paid for any accommodation worldwide. However, the reality of our stay fell far short of our expectations. The apartment's promised lake view was obstructed by a large staircase, and the constant traffic flow compromised any semblance of privacy, preventing us from fully enjoying our surroundings. Despite our polite requests for assistance, Tae seemed unwilling to accommodate our needs and instead deferred the matter to her colleagues. Subsequent discussions with the duty manager only served to exacerbate our frustration, as we were presented with higher rates for alternative accommodations. Our experience at The Rees Hotel was utterly disappointing, particularly considering the glowing recommendations we had received from friends. It pains me to say that this stay has tarnished an otherwise enjoyable vacation in New Zealand. In light of this abysmal experience, we lodged a formal complaint with the Rees Hotel Management via emails, but as expected, their staff behavior continues to be disappointing, and we received no response till date.
I am quite disappointed with the level of service and amenities in this hotel given it is charging premium 5 star prices. Def not a great value for money. Not even average. Cons: The quality of sound proofing is shocking and you can clearly hear every move in the vicinity of your room (even slightest move like someone pulling a chair in adjacent room, it is Not recommended for light sleepers at all). We had to request swapping rooms due to noise. While the staff were kind, friendly and helpful, there was no equivalent room available and we had to swap our original king bedroom with spa bath tub for another more basic room but with a lake view (otherwise we had to pay to upgrade which is quite strange since noise problem was hotels problem not ours. Also, The second room didn’t even have coffee machine which comes with the most basic hotels anywhere in the world). There is no bottled water in the room and when we asked they claimed that they have started this initiative to roll out plastic bottles. There was chilled water in the room and had to pay $10 per bottle. I would have believed this if I was not familiar with facility management standards. The quality of the sustainability practices of a facility is determined by its energy efficiency and waste management and even the most sustainable hotels in the world still use a lot of plastics. The air con is quite clunky and takes ages to respond to temp setpoint. Breakfast options were restrictive (kind of similar to airport lounge) and we opted to not take our breakfast in the hotel due to not accomodating pregnancy dietary requirements. Pros: Cleanliness was good. Also service request were responded quite faster than other hotels in NZ. Overall, I feel like we were better off going to a simple hotel given there was no spa, pool, nice breakfast restaurant. Felt like an standalone airbnb but with premium hotel rate. Update post hotel response: I think the hotel management need to realise that our complaint was around soundproofing not a noisy neighbour. It wasnt someone next door partying that annoyed us, it was lack of sound proofing in the room which caused us to evem hear the trolleys going outside the rooms. Also the management should understand guests especially those with medical conditions can get exhausted requesting every basic things such as coffee machine. (Rather they are saying they could have provided if we asked, the point is you want to stay in a hotel that provides basic features rather than having to ask for every one of them)
