Obunmee - Pyrmont

Ordered the veg banh mi. More of a sandwich than a Vietnamese banh mi. Can't say the same of the meat choices- but mine had two spring rolls with sautéd shiitake mushrooms and carrots, cabbage and mix salad. A bit weird for a Vietnamese banh mi. It wasn't a fresh banh mi I was hoping for. I'll be walking a bit further to get my fix from DK Station instead

Had a mango smoothie and a traditional pork bun. Yum! The bun was so fresh and crispy, which what really separates a good banh mi to a great one. The mango smoothie was refreshing and actually tastes like mango I.e. With a hint of sourness not just sweet and syrupy like some cafes. Reasonably priced and fuss-free friendly service with lovely outside seating to enjoy the meal with my trusted companion, Thor the husky. Will definitely be back to try more smoothies and maybe try their vermicelli salad, or pho, or rolls..... ????

Our local Vietnamese go to. I rate the home made sausage and deep fried spring rolls as my 'must haves'. The baguettes are fine but have slowly noticed the price increase from $6 to $7.50 over my time here. When you can still get as good quality for $5 elsewhere it is withholding me from a perfect score

It's really hard to stuff up breakfast to the extent that Obunmee did this morning. My sourdough 'toast' was warmed bread. The smashed avocado had been heated by being topped with cheese that resembled a melted Kraft single. It probably wasn't a melted Kraft single, but for all the flavour it had, it might as well have been. My side of bacon was burnt, ditto my latte. New post 2017 - Came back here on the weekend to satisfy my viet pancakes & noodle salad bowl cravings. The pancakes has improved even more! Extra crispy, more salad & more meat (I ordered the pork & prawn). The noodle salad was good however, I do prefer the way the meat is cooked more at their other branch in Chinatown. The order was for takeaway & presented very well. If your around the area this is where you go for viet pancakes! Old post 2015 - Great flavoured soup base for the pho. I can finally satisfy my viet pancakes craving & get it here, nice & crispy, only thing is it should have a bit more pork & prawn.
