We were very impressed with this lovely place Ina former bank building. Great range of sweet and savoury treats with really nice quality coffee. The building is nicely decorated and presented with the vault door visible. Couple of tables outside so you can sit and let the world go by. We would recommend it.
We’ve been coming here as a family since it opened often daily but thanks to the actions of poorly trained, aggressive staff, we won’t be back. My friend, a journo, asked for a pie and wanted it warmed up. We were in the tiny cafe part of the place and there is a large open space that leads to the back of he counter, where the servers are. Plate in hand, she went and asked the lovely female waitress to warm it up for her, and as they were speaking, the acting manager suddenly shrieks ‘GET OUT OF THERE’. He then insinuates she is trying to steal from the till. When I questioned another member of staff about the rudeness and stupidity of this action she was holding a plate of food and speaking to the waitress who had served us I was told “You shouldn’t have been behind there.” And that old chestnut “I only work here.” Two things. There should be a door on the cafe entrance or at least a sign if you’re so concerned about theft, and secondly, employing rude, aggressive young men without education or a clue about customer service can detrimentally affect your business. Grow up. The turnover of staff here is telling, and while the cake are good, there are many other places to source similar without putting up with people like this.
My wife and I stopped in for cakes and coffee after eating our mains in a nearby restaurant. We are having a progressive lunch, as part of our wedding anniversary celebration. A wonderful choice of cakes and pastries on show and we wished we had more room to fit them in. We both chose cream cupcakes. My wife chose a salted caramel and cream cupcake and a weak long black coffee and I chose a jam and cream cupcake and a cappuccino. My wife was disappointed with the mock cream in her cake, but I enjoyed the fresh cream in mine. I was slightly disappointed with my cappuccino. It wasn't as well made as it looked, being a little watery, rather than creamy. All in all, it was a nice end to our meal. We think its a good cake shop though, with a good variety of cakes.
Located on the corner of Harris Street, directly across from the Commonwealth Bank, you will find this beautiful hidden gem of a restaurant. In addition to their famous vanilla slices, which everyone raves about, they offer a variety of delicious and tempting miniature cakes, including gluten-free options. Whether you choose to sit outside or inside, the ambiance is perfect for a romantic first date. The prices for their larger cakes, perfect for taking home to share as a stunning dessert, are very reasonable and competitively priced compared to supermarkets. They are open from 7am to 6pm Monday to Friday, and 8am to 5pm on Saturdays, but unfortunately closed on Sundays. Additionally, they offer a selection of chutneys, relishes, birthday candles, and other gift items such as reusable lidded coffee mugs, making it a great place to pick up unique gifts for friends and family.
