Pura Gula - Puerto Viejo de Talamanca

This restaurant was the best thing that happened to me on our family trip to Puerto Viejo. It was recommended by our tour guide. It was close to our resort which was a major plus. I cannot say enough about this place from the rustic cozy interior to the amazing food and the friendly service. We liked it so much we couldn’t wait to go back a second time before we left Puerto Viejo. They have daily specials which I ordered both times we went. For appetizer, I would recommend their ceviche. I had quite a bit of ceviche during our 10 day trip in Costa Rica and really liked their version. I had their pasta with clams and the garlic shrimps the second time and both dishes were delicious! My son and husband both had their seared tuna and it was cooked perfect. They served us with a chocolate cake with salt and olive oil which I loved. A very down to earth way to eat the chocolate cake that had nibs. The crème brûlée was nicely caramelized that you could crack into. The drinks are artistically presented so I ate and drank with my eyes first. I could go on and on! I highly recommend this resto. Sooo good!!

Pura Gula joyfully executes culinary excellence! We dined here 2 of our 3 nights in Punta Uva because of the lovely food and the friendly staff. The fresh dorado with mango ceviche, beef tenderloin pasta, pine nut salad, spicy chocolate cake and sangria blanco will remain happy food memories for us!

Wonderful food in a very nice atmosphere.. every dish is perfectly done with a lot of love! From Pasta to caribean food everything is possible and highly recommended

We ventured into Pura Gula after a long drive…. We were looking just for any place to eat before going to rest. boy were we in for a surprise. The staff very friendly and keen to tend every need in a relaxed but professional way. The food was amazing with unique flavor combining several ingredients to make a delightful flavor explosión that tantalizes your senses. Prices are great and our whole experience was delightful. Highly recommended. Pad Thai was delicious.

We found this gem of a restaurant on our first night in Playa Chiquita. That evening we were served the freshest, most delicious food i've had in a very long time. Our server was warm and charming. We found our way back to Pura Gula three times during our 10 day stay. The restaurant is laid back, and beautifully done. The food and service are extraordinary.
