Bidrage med feedbackMy Husband and I finally had dinner there after many talks about going to the English Cellar! Great experience I must say! The ambiance is perfect, the food was great and the price’s were more than fair! My husband was impressed with the beer list and how large and extensive it is! He had an English Ale called Boddingtons on draft and loved it and I had the Framboise (rasberry beer) and it was fabulous! As far as food goes, I ordered the bangers and mash and Larry had the meatloaf! Both were very good and tasty! the service was on point as well. Great new edition to the East Side!
My husband I had been meaning to try out this pub for months. Located on the East Side of Providence in the former location of the Liquid Lounge, it has outdoor seating and last night was perfect for an al fresco dinner. The pub offers a limited menu of traditional pub food and some vegetarian options as well. The beer menu is 4 times larger than the food menu, with lots of choices on tap. I originally ordered the Fish Chips, but they were out of fish. I next ordered the Beef Pasty and my husband had the Shepherd’s Pie. The pasty takes at least 20 minutes to make so be prepared to wait, but it’s well worth it! Flaky pastry, delicately seasoned beef and served with a mushroom gravy. Yum! The Shepherd’s Pie was the best we’d had in the area, again with a nicely seasoned beef layer and creamy, flavorful and thick mashed potatoes on top. It was very filling, but could have been slightly improved if the same mushroom gravy had been served at its side. There was a timing issue in the kitchen that caused our food to come seperately, but management couldn’t have been more apologetic and helpful. Based on the responsive service and the excellent food, I wouldn’t hesitate to return to this restaurant and plan to bring friends next time to share in their signature Fried Oreo dessert!
I came here once a few years ago just for drinks during a Saturday afternoon in the summer.
It saddens me to have to both bury my original literary masterpiece and down the stars considerably on my ol' reliable off the bustling Thayer St.
I love the fact English Cellar is tucked underneath the restaurant that's above it.
