Bidrage med feedbackThis was probably my favorite culinary experience in all of Providence. And apparently Jacques Pepin comes here too when he’s in town! The black spaghetti was really tasty and strikingly pretty, and the grated The Thai-inspired desert was super creative and savory-sweet, and the guanaja chocolate tart was delicious. My wife thought the duck breast was the best she’d ever had.Pics attached including the menu the day we were there. It changes daily based on what local ingredients they get.
It was my second time dining at Persimmon. The service was good and the food was delicious. We ordered a variety of small plates across the menu and while the flavors were consistently rich I think they were a bit unimaginative. Nothing stood out enough to give a venue of this caliber a full 5-star review.Food: 4/5
Relaxed extensive venue, very comfortable seating with open kitchen. Small plates of complex flavors beautifully presented. A lovely relaxing experience with a very satisfying menu.Don't miss that beef tartar...Food: 5/5
Finally made it out to Persimmon. For many of us students on College Hill, Persimmon is a Hope Street icon that graces Instagram feeds often, but remains psychologically distant. Many of us pass by it, hear about it, but rarely have occasion to visit. Its aura and reputation (read: on Google Maps especially emphasizes the need for an occasion.I had been waiting for an occasion myself, until I realized my time in Providence was coming to an end and time's limited nature itself was a good enough reason :It's a small plates restaurant which is great for people like me who get bored easily of big-dish foods. My personal favorites of the night were the chicken wing, soft shell crab, and black spaghetti. With the first two especially, I was trying to figure out what goes in their sauces and scraped the plate clean. The cornbread was okay, the beef tartare had me craving for more and the scallops were really good but it was nothing incredibly different from scallops elsewhere. We split 6 dishes among 2 and I (the smaller human being felt pretty full after walking in starving. There are restaurants that feel like home-cooked meals and restaurants that have every atom on the plate engineered to correspond to a taste bud. Persimmon is the latter and I'm thankful that they're so dedicated to their craft.I'm incredibly glad to have been able to visit before leaving--it definitely lived up to the reputation of being one of the best in Providence.
Good but the steak was over cooked?? Which is kinda embarrassing lolService was super good and ambience was also nice but just didn't really feel like it lived up to the hype fully
