The Local Oven - Prairie Du Chien

The maple bacon donut brought us in but the breads and other baked goods hooked us. We could have bought everything there, it all looked delicious!

I love to search for and shop at local bakeries whenever I take a road trip. Coming across Local Oven while spending a day driving around Prairie du Chien was a treat on a recent summer Saturday. Enjoyed a couple Bismarcks, a maple bacon frosted donut, and assorted cookies that almost didn't make it home because they were so delish. Very cute gift shop adjacent to the bakery was fun to walk around and find some unique Wisconsin memorabilia. Not too much else on this quaint downtown Main Street, but Local Oven was well worth visiting.

Interesting little shop — you must visit when in town. We came in for their locally made ice cream. Have one (or ten! scoops of the Purple Cow, it’s great!

We discovered a new little gem on this trip to PDC. Local Oven has a wonderful mix of gifts, ice cream, and baked treats. l took a custard filled pastry with me as well as a fresh cup of coffee it was the perfect blend of smooth subtle vanilla cream and flakey pastry. We will return
