A brilliant surprise. Behind the almost concealed facade, a lovely family pub. Nice beer and a fabulous menu. Seriously, ask for the Welsh Curry sounds weird, tastes *amazing*! Great people all round .
We regularly visit family near Llangenny and so come to this pub often. It’s family run, super cozy inside with a wonderful old pub feel. They have an extra room for functions and a lovely pub garden with a fenced area perfect for kids next to a field with horses. There’s walks in all directions and a play park up the road. I was amazed to eat the best dairy free dessert there and love the traditional fair with respect to the increase in food intolerances and preferences. Expect a slow country feel with an old boy or two hugging their pint in the corner and you won’t be disappointed by the friendly easygoing atmosphere and proper pub food.
Tasty home cooked food good portion sizes, delicious desserts p, great atmosphere service. We will return very soon
One of the worst meals of my life. Friends with whom I had been staying took me there for our final dinner. Huge mistake. All the food was bottom of the ladder pub grub, with breaded, fried items figuring significantly. I stupidly chose the fish and chips without the chips, just salad. What came was a dark brown slab of heavily breadcrumbed, mass produced freezer section supermarket fish or at least I was told it was fish. The inside was watery and mushy, as though it had been unthawed and sat in a fridge a very long time. I couldn 't small much, as I had a slight cold, but after two bites, my brain said STOP! and I ate no more. Within a couple of hours, I began to feel that uncomfortable tight feeling you get in your gut when you have food poisoning, and I started drinking glass after glass of water to try to flush it all out. Throughout that night, I slept little and felt pretty sick. Somehow, I pulled myself together for the long trek across country to catch my flight to Portugal from Heathrow. I told my hosts, and they said, But that 's the second time that 's happened. I thought I told you 'don 't have the fish ' Well, if they did, I hadn 't heard it, as there was a rowdy bunch of lads at the next table (another reason to skip this place. I wouldn 't even give it one star if I had my way.
