I have never met any Filipinos in my life until I moved to SD from Boston. Many of my new friends in SD are Filipinos. Filipinos are gregarious and sociable people who love to party, and the food is often at the center of their many celebrations. Naturally, I started to try out various Filipino restaurants. When my friend invited me to this famed Filipino restaurant, I was thrilled. And surely, it didn't disappoint. I loved all the dishes, please see attached pictures.Filipino food combines Eastern and Western ideas and is strongly influenced by Chinese, Spanish, and American traditions. The dishes are mixed with various spices and ingredients to add sweet, sour, and salty flavors.First and foremost, my favorite is the Halo-halo obviously : Halo-halo is a popular Filipino cold dessert that is a concoction of crushed ice, evaporated milk, and various ingredients. We ordered two variants. One is blueberry and the other one is mango. There were four of us. Unanimously, we voted A as in awesome for the blueberry one and B as in blah for the mango flavor. The dessert has the right amount of sweetened beans, fruits, and jellies. The fish dish is OMG-So-Yummy. I love the fact that the chef diced up a lot of onions and spread the onions across the fish. I would like to try it out at home myself. I like the name of the dish Bangus Sisig, it has a nice ring to it not an onion ring haha . The Kare Kare was rich in taste. The pancit guisado combination was good. Sinigang and palabok are very tasty too.I would definitely return to this restaurant. Halo-halo again. Life is good with halo-halo and my new Filipino friends.
Is zero stars possible? I came to this business on a recommendation from a friend and they are closed during posted open hours. 5:17 pm on a Sunday. Posted hours at the store show 6:30, their website says 7 pm.I absolutely do not support a business that cannot be open during posted “open” hours.
It’s great that they do cook to order, but not sure what happened, we ordered laing with rice and it was way too salty. It used to be perfect.
