The Clarence Garden - Portsmouth

The Clarence is a trendy gastropub located on Whitehall with large windows, stylish grey decor, and humorous prints throughout. It is a popular spot, as evidenced by the mixed crowd of business and leisure patrons on a Tuesday afternoon in February. I found my friend seated by the window and was greeted warmly with a drink offer. Glancing at the specials board, I was pleased to see a variety of herb-infused dishes. It may sound odd, but I had checked out the menu online the night before and was relieved to find that the prices matched the quotes at the end of the PDF.

This cozy gastropub may appeal more to tourists than to locals, as it embodies various British stereotypes. However, it is conveniently located near Trafalgar Studios, making it a popular spot. Despite being crowded during our visit, we enjoyed our experience sitting on bar stools by the walkway. The friendly and talkative bar staff added to the pleasant atmosphere. The standout feature was the unique bowler hat lampshades above the bar, adding a touch of English gentlemanly charm.

The Clarence is an attractive pub on Whitehall just off Trafalgar Square. Its fantastic location makes for a busy atmosphere, especially at rush hour, but if you do manage to find a table it's well worth dining in. The menu selection is mostly posh-ish pub nosh, and the food is really very good and not overpriced. The desserts are great too. There is live music on occasion and the feeling is of a comfortable and swanky city pub with a little soul. The wine list is impressive if a little expensive.

Sitting was very comfortable and service was friendly and helpful. order the mac and the cheese, which was absolutely delicious. the fish and chips platter was very generous but too oily. beautiful experience overall

It was pure serenity that an application to check the tin belly dining room in the clarence came together with an old friend who just accidentally worked a stone's throw from the pub for the last thirty years. and that the newly renovated dining room specializing in Guaeridon service – the “Tin belly carving Trolley” a flawless, shiny servier dish on a trolley perched. the lid of the trolley opened to reveal the largest “on the bone sirloin of the bark that I have seen with a bein of yorkshire pudding and crawl of gravy.
