Portsmouth Feed Company

When we arrived for dinner, we found that Portsmouth Feed Co. was closed and out of business. The restaurant next door informed us that it had permanently shut down on February 6, 2023. It seems this information was not known to you or the Phantom Gourmet.

The food received mixed feedback. The Kung Pao cauliflower was delicious, while those who ordered the brisket described it as amazing. The pulled pork was good, and the cornbread was delightful. However, the other sides were merely average, and the fish and chips had a bit too much breading. Our server was excellent, and the drinks were enjoyable.

For my main course, the brisket was phenomenal—super tender and juicy without being greasy, and it didn't have that heavy, overwhelming seasoning some places use. The sauce that accompanied the brisket was packed with flavor, offering a nice warmth without being too spicy. The beans were very good as well, although they were a little on the drier side due to the cooking method. However, they were still delicious. While the prices may seem a bit on the high side, the generous portions and the quality and flavor of the food definitely make it worth it. My only complaint is that the dinner should come with a larger piece of cornbread. This place has definitely become my go-to for dinner while I’m in town, and I've already recommended it to a coworker!

The restaurant is nice with a fun ambiance. The service was awful. Once seated no one acknowledged us or brought menus. We sat there for 20 minutes before a member in our party had to go to the bar and ask if anyone could serve us. The food took forever to come out and our server continued to show up sporadically. After we got the bill he never came back. Again a member in our party had to get up and find someone to close out our bill. It took over 2 hours for 4 people to have dinner. The food was decent but we will not be going back.

Grabbed dinner with a co-worker. Quiet night (Tuesday . Food was delicious, portions were HUGE, prices were great! Server was very friendly and helpful. Appreciated they didn't pressure us to leave when we were the last ones (thank you! Loved the atmosphere, including the background music. Would definitely go back.
