Agave Mexican Bistro Dos - Portsmouth

What an awesome experience here on Saturday night. I was with my friends for a girls weekend and we chose here due to the menu looking super yummy. We kind of let time get away from us and were late for our reservation (so sorry!! BUT, they seated us promptly anyways. We were brought upstairs and I loved the place. It was quaint and had a relaxing atmosphere. The water feature behind the bar, so pretty. One downside was it was quite warm in the place, but it must have been due to how packed it was. Other than that the whole night was amazing. Little bowls of chips with yummy salsa was a perfect munchie while waiting for our food. The salsa was perfectly spicy! Our server Jay was one of the best I have ever had. He was so nice, personable, knew he could joke around with us and made wonderful suggestions. I am a stickler for good service since I worked in the industry for years, and he blew me away. He is an amazing asset to Agave, and really embraces his job of giving guests an awesome experience. Everyone in my party was BEYOND thrilled with their food and the margaritas. I would drive up here solely to come back to Agave, and make sure I asked for Jay if he was working. Keep up the amazing work Agave, you're doing great!!

You can't go wrong at either location. Food is always excellent service is what one would expect in a busy restaurant. The nachos are a meal on their own I would caution you eyes are bigger than stomach) it's hard to do both apps and dinner. Their guacamole made fresh at your table is amazing. The choice of margaritas is probably the biggest I have ever seen in any Mexican restaurant. I would recommend the habanero margarita myself. Fresh chips and salsa mmmm.

The food was amazing. The service was wonderful. The drinks were powerful. My only nit pick is that some of the tables are too close together. It didn't inconvenience myself or my wife but several couples had to take a pass on a nearby table so that we wouldn't be basically on top of them. That aside it was a wonderful dining experience and my compliments to the staff.

I was here for my birthday about a week and a half ago and I really just have to say.. The Chili Reilleno was absolutely l amazing- the type off food that gives you goosebumps when you take true first bit Our server, Jay, was great- personable, funny, had us sold on birthday tequila and water shots.
