If you've got a hankering for authentic but not wildly expensive sushi this is your place.Seaweed salad was delightful and a perfect starter size for one.Inari was so tasty.The Big O Roll was recommended to me. I'd describe it as a dense and rich roll the sauce it came with was paired perfectly. VERY good but on the heavier side.Pot of green tea is a lot of bang for your buck.
I ate here with my partner who is vegan, and even though we didn’t mention this they automatically asked us if it was okay to plate the vegetable rolls we ordered with the fish and mentioned fish sauce as an ingredient in a tofu dish. It was really nice that they took the time to observe and care without us needing to make any requests. Much appreciated, and the rolls were awesome too.
I've been going to Saburos for 24 years. The food is hands down great. BEST sushi that I've had in the states.4 stars for the atmosphere- the back room add-on feels stiff and too crowded.3 stars for the service- it's just 1 particular woman server who is maybe a manager or owner? She's always been abrupt, cold and short w/ customers. When it's close to closing time, she definitely makes it known and it feels awful. They shouldn't allow people to come in after a certain time if it's SUCH an inconvenience. Also, the staff all seem scared of her.
Until recently, we went 1-2 times a month. For 15 years. Our favorite restaurant. Prices were really good, for good sushi. Sadly, most of what we ordered have been incredibly expensive!! They raised almost Everything!! It’s becoming cost prohibitive. The take out also started getting weird fees added. Now, we go about every 5-6 months. Service has always been a bit Surly. Catch them on a bad day, and they are Short with people, a bit rude. Recently I went and service impressed me in terms of treatment, but it took forever to get the bill.. that use to be -80, but now 125!! I do miss out monthly Saburo. I recommend still, with the caveat of “We use to go all the time.. but it is so expensive, now.”:
Sad that this place has gone downhill so badly. The food is unsatisfactory and the waitress there is so rude and has a bad attitude. She gave us the bill after about 10 minutes after our meal was served. She made it seem as though she wanted us to leave quickly even though we literally just started our meal and she provided basically no service whatsoever. We noticed she didn’t do it to the other patrons though. Not sure why she targeted us but regardless will not be returning due to poor service and a nasty attitude.
