Tacking Point Tavern - Port Macquarie

I have been meeting with some friends from an interest group in my area at this restaurant on a monthly basis. I like the location because it is close to home. The past three months have been fine when we meet from 2:30-4:00. However, today was a complete disaster. Unfortunately, Tacking Point Tavern has once again allowed children to run wild in the dining area, with parents who seem to not care about their behavior. This can be a nightmare for other diners. Despite booking a table, my group had to move to a quieter area and we are now unsure if we will return in the future.

I have visited this restaurant before and was not impressed, but since my last visit, the venue has changed ownership. Members of a craft group I belong to selected this location for our Christmas lunch. The interior has recently been renovated and is now bright, airy, and cheerful. The staff we interacted with were all delightful young individuals who were extremely helpful and happy to accommodate requests for children's meals. There were only 2 salad options available as mains. Our meals were brought out together, except for two, due to a mix-up in the kitchen. The group, spanning various age groups, agreed that overall, the prices were high, except for the steaks. Many members enjoyed their meals and coffee at the end. It was nice to have a peaceful lunch without children running around, which had been my experience in the past. I also noticed they have added a new play area for children with family dining options.

Since this tavern has changed hands, the food quality has gone downhill. My clients were overall disappointed and so I cannot afford holding my next group function here any longer. Sad because we have had good experience with our functions in the past, before ownership changed. As stated in other reviews here: the staff is always friendly and correct, terrific seating spaces, yet the food is of poor quality and doesn't meet the high end price one has to pay.

I came with my family for oktoberfest and got a burger it was simply divine and it was the patty was hot, not cold, not warm just hot and hot burger is good burger. the cheese was melted and the bun lightly toasted. The chips were also salted perfectly and I could tell the chef who made it had worked hard on it because it was delicious. and the staff are really kind as they serve you your food Get there now! don't miss out!
