The Islay - Port Ellen

Ok place to drop in for a dram. It’s position in Port Ellen services it well. Bit pricy though.

Reserved a table 6 months ago. E-mail apparently not found. A promise was made to call. Nothing happens.

Lovely dinner with a inch of creativity with the traditional local staples. I would highly recommend the crab and peat smoked mussels entree which was delicious and the venison fruit pie with peat smoked mash and a whisky sauce. Also they feature décents wines (I know we are in whisky territory but we all need a break now and then! offerings are typical and appropriate with reasonable prices. Service is fast and friendly but booking are essential to get in.

I visited the hotel for dinner and found it quite busy, but the staff were incredibly efficient. The menu was outstanding, and the meals I chose were delicious. I highly recommend this place! Service: 5, Location: 5.

This is a wonderful restaurant! The staff is incredibly warm and welcoming. The Big Strand beer is delightful. Service: 5/5 Location: 5/5 Highlights: Quiet atmosphere, kid-friendly, excellent value.
