Bidrage med feedbackThis modest Midland Avenue café was a tasty and comfortable place to get a homely breakfast with an original twist. We came to a few open tables under the regular and sat. We were served coffee, but it was also a self-help situation. My spouse asked about the vegetarian options and chose an Omelet. I went with one of the house specialties that chapin: a plate with two eggs (minenüber-easy), warm soft tortillas, a square of white cheese, some cream fresca/sour cream, a cup of black beans, and fried plantains. The curtains came on the plate caramelized and rich with sweet fresh taste just from the hot pan. I put everything together and had tasteful bites I never had before. We also tried to test our Spanish on the morning show on the TV nearby. What else do you want? Do not let the humble interior fool you. The hostess was friendly and the food is worth a trip if you are nearby. It is the kind of small business dinner that actually keeps this big country running.
Came here for breakfast and it was just what we needed after a long night. The California Omelette was fantastic and our server was very friendly. The building is a little bit ****, so I can imagine that there is little crowded, but we had a late breakfast so there was plenty of room for us.
I almost went to Starbucks to eat a coffee, but I came here instead. I'm so glad I did it! The service was so fast and the food is delicious. (I wish there was salt on the domestic pommes because they were a kind of gland, but this is a simple fixation.... and I didn't even expect homeries with my order, so it was a nice surprise to have them at all! There is nothing like fast fresh and filling food.
The sweet salad is absolutely delicious. Fresh green, tomatoes, radish, onions, a bit of bacon and chicken warm from the grill. I had stopped in rye to load my car on the nearby Marriott. The bistro at the Marriott is closed. I went down the street and ordered this salad. I realized I left my wallet in the car. I mentioned this to the owner who said in broken English “no worries, Pay me some other time”. Such goodness. In a few minutes. And I mentioned the salad is delicious! I will make this little place a regular stop on my long trip from Boston to Maryland
Absolutely my favorite restaurant now. You gotta try the pork tacos
