Bistro Vinden - Pokolbin

Lovely romantic setting. We found this place thanks to Villa Provence. Nice friendly service and everyone was very accommodating with our requirements. Food was very impressive and exceeded our expectations in all regards. Lovely spot with great food and service - it was a shame to leave!

A cellar door with a restaurant, really nice wines, the bistro has indoor/ outdoor dining, food is superb, hospitality of host Sandra is just delightful, so accomodating you feel like family, highly recommend this place for a visit, especially for a long lunch

Four of us, undertook wine tasting, followed by a 3 course meal over lunch. It was a wonderful location, overlooking the estate.The wine tasting was methodological, and knowledgeable without being passionate. However the depth of wine to taste is very extensive. A wonderful annual event. The food this year was to die for! Wonderful mini blinis with smoked salmon, caviar and creme fraiche for canapés, along with home made pate looking just like mini squares of chocolate fondant. Entree was prawn bisque ( with a beautiful huge prawn in each small dish) served with lovely matching wine. Then followed by asparagus coated in homemade mayonnaise with smoked trout, then slow cooked rabbit, and a lovely serve of duck confit with absolutely beautiful Asian sauce on spinach. Finalised with an absolutely wonderful chocolate cake with berry sorbet (see picture). Alicante Bouchet light rose style wine is lovely for the warm day we had and the heavier courses were accompanied by some award winning shiraz and newly released merlot. Whilst these dishes don't perhaps make up the usual menu they are typical of the super quality of Guy Vinden's kitchen. Thoroughly recommended!

We had lunch here on the recommendation of the proprietor of Lucy's Run winery and it couldn't have been better from being able to choose wine with lunch by tasting several to the imaginative and attractive menu. A really great end to our visit to the Hunter Valley.
