Bidrage med feedbackFour of us ate here mid week, two burgers and two ploughman and several beers. Food prices fine, but carlsberg at was dear! It was very quiet when we were there, but then again it was a winter midweek visit.
A friend and I received a Christmas voucher for afternoon high tea at the hotel and it was truly a delightful experience. The food was delicious and fresh, particularly the scones which were the best we've ever had - light and full of flavor. Our waitress was very friendly and we also enjoyed the beautiful sunshine during our visit. Overall, it was a wonderful experience and definitely worth a visit if you're in the area. We will definitely be returning in the future.
After paying an average price for a short Spa break, knowing nothing of the place at all, we were blown away by the value-for-money! The hotel was clean, welcoming and charmingly decorated, our rooms were huge, the service everywhere was outstanding, the staff friendly and...excellent, the food AMAZING! I would highly recommend this place to anyone, and will definitely be returning!
I have been a member of the Oasis Leisure club at this local Hotel and Golf Club on the edge of Dartmoor for several years, but have not sampled the Hotel restaurant for quite some time.Under a relatively recent change of ownership, the whole place...is undergoing a gradual refurbishment, including the restaurant which is scheduled to reopen in Hence when we arrived for dinner last night, January, we were shown to our table which was in a screened off area of the main bar/brasserie. It was a quiet night probably not helped by the weather (it was pouring down)! However, we were given a very warm welcome by the staff and got stuck into our first bottle of Argentinian Malbec which was very good quality. We ordered from the set menu (two courses for or three courses for We both had the duck pate with port and brandy chutney followed by pork tenderloin (perfectly cooked just slightly pink) and finishing with chocolate torte with a scoop of delicious chocolate chip ice-cream and a white chocolate grenache. All served by Claire who was a credit to the place as she was also manning the bar!! Overall, we were very pleasantly surprised with the overall standard of the cuisine which was excellent. The hotel itself is in a lovely rural position in a wooded valley a couple of miles from Plympton and about miles north of Plymouth City Centre and a great base from which to tour Dartmoor. It has a very undulating but very attractive hole golf course, large indoor swimming pool with two jaccuzis, steam room and sauna and a well equipped gym and glass backed squash court. Strongly recommended.
A group of us booked to play golf at Elfordleigh which was good the course in pretty fair condition. The problems came with the food. We wished to include some non golfers for the meal afterwards but were told we would have to pay lasagne and Chips! This was the cost including golf but could not be reduced for a meal only. This meant they lost out on five extra meals. On top of this strange decision we then had to wait an hour and a quarter for the lasagne and chips, which were quite small portions.
