Joe's Water Ice - Plum Boro

My only complaint is they aren't open year round, staff is friendly and helpful and the flavors are delicious, the ice cream is very good compared to Rita's

Small local mom and pop ice cream joint...They make their own ice creams, feature soft serve and their own Italian ice. Sometimes I go and really enjoy their treats: Bada Bing ice is great Wild cherry with tons of cherries in it. They have an orange creamcicle soft serve that's outta this world! However, I'm not a huge fan of the hand scooped ice creams. Some have been icy and kind of meh. Also, I've gone twice this week for chocolate malted milkshakes...the first one had no malt taste...ok a fluke...second time I asked for heavy handed on the malt...still nothing...Not sure what's up with that, but when you charge extra for malt I'd like to taste it...just my .02...or in this case my .94 cents.

I crave the Joe 'lattis. I highly suggest getting the bada bing Italian ice with vanilla ice cream. The bada bing is a cherry flavor with real cherries! You 'll never look at Rita 's the same!

I was really impressed with Joe 's! I ordered a chocolate milkshake, and I asked the very important question when I ordered... Is this milkshake made with chocolate ice cream? I was met with the response, Of course. That 's the only way TO make a chocolate milkshake. I knew I was dealing with true professionals. Quantity, quality, and great price points. They have ice cream (soft serve and reg) that they make themselves and water ice. I saw on their menu (I 'll update later with a pic shame on me) they have Wednesday dog day where your dog can get ice cream too. The location is decent. The building looks like an old Rita 's and they do have a couple tables outside around back, but I 'll probably always take ice cream to go from here. They do accept card, which is nice as well. Joe. You 're doing it. Thank you.

Have been here a few times now, as it a friend 's childhood favorite ice cream place in the Plum area. I have never had the famous water ice but intend to try it on the next go round as it does look different from Rita 's and apparently is what this place is known for. As far as sundaes and soft serve go, its really just your typical vanilla/chocolate/twist that you can find anywhere. Unfortunately, nothing really outstanding about the ice cream, just pretty average. I 'm looking forward to the water ice in the bing cherry flavor with cherry pieces in it! Its my friend 's favorite and he gets it every time so it must be worth a try!
