Bidrage med feedbackWhat an amazing discovery! I stumbled upon Tortilla Flats during a quick lunch break, and it was a great choice. It was still early, so the restaurant was relatively quiet. We were quickly seated by a very friendly gentleman. Warm chips with both red and green salsa arrived promptly, and both were delicious! The lunch special menu was extensive and offered great discounts. I decided on the Baja Fish Tacos, which came with the option of red or green rice—I chose the red. The tacos were massive! The perfectly fried rock cod was fantastic, and the sauce was just the right amount and tasted wonderful. The rice and beans were equally satisfying. I learned that the rock cod is brought in fresh daily and never frozen, which definitely showed in the taste! I don’t visit Placerville often, but when I do, I’ll be sure to stop at Tortilla Flats again!
We started off with chips and salsa, along with water. I appreciated that a pitcher of water was on our table, especially since the salsa was spicier than I expected—though it was really tasty. We also ordered a margarita and a beer. I wasn’t thrilled about the price of the margarita, and it was smaller than I had hoped, but it was absolutely delicious! When our meals arrived, I was pleasantly surprised by the amazing flavors. The red enchilada sauce was fantastic, and the chicken packed a ton of flavor. I tried some of the tortilla soup, and it was delightful—loaded with chunks of avocado. My boyfriend was quite full after his two street tacos, which were petite yet very satisfying. Overall, I would say don’t be put off by the menu's appearance (though it didn't seem overly appealing to us); the food was incredibly flavorful. I left feeling very full and with my taste buds thoroughly satisfied!
The noise level is excessive due to the poor acoustics in the bar area. However, the happy hour margarita was almost worth it. Unfortunately, I can't recommend the bar until they address the acoustics or if you're proficient in sign language. Please do something about this! We would happily return if it improves!
Super yummy! Great staff! We came for dinner after spending the afternoon at Apple Hill. Tortilla Flatts has been a go-to for my husband since college, so whenever we're in the area (from Reno), we stop in. The plates were big enough for our kids to share 2 to a plate. The chips are absolutely lovely warm! Our eldest tried the queso fondito (something none of us had tried before), and he said it was delicious! Other favorites were enchiladas, burritos, roasted chile quesadillas, and happy hour taquitos. My husband said the margaritas were really good! We ended up sitting in the bar/ cantina area instead of the dining area so we could take advantage of the happy hour specials. It was kind of nice being in a location that was a bit livelier, especially with younger kids. Kind of drowned out their kid noise.
Traffic was terrible on the 50 so we pulled into town and found thus gem. I feel like My mother in law cooked this meal. She is from Michoacan and doesn't mess around with food. Incredibly fresh. Great portions and nothing out of a can. Jalapeño bacon poppers, Red Chile Verde, and asada street tacos. Wash it down with a Negro Modelo for a perfect lunch! Make this a stop on your way to or from Tahoe. You won't be disappointed. I'd like just a bit more energy in the environment. It's almost too quiet. Maybe open the big windows to the street. Then I'm really part of the town.
