Bidrage med feedbackFive of us had a great dinner at Mei's in Shell Beach. First time in three years finding a good Chinese Restaurant. Moved to SLO and everywhere I tried the Chinese food was not up to par. Very glad friends suggested we meet there very good food and service!
This place never seems to change. It is good for Chinese standards, kung pao, chow mein. Maybe Mei will never be a place that completely knocks your socks off, but you can count on it. We need places like that!
The food is awesome. I love the wonton soup. Made fresh every day. Everyone's so friendly and helpful about what's on the menu
We tried Mei's a few years back and didn't care for it. It was in those covid, take out days and it just didn't travel well apparently, because I recently went in for lunch. I had one of their lunch specials and wow, what a difference! The egg drop soup is fantastic and the best I think I've ever had. The veggies in my dish were cooked to perfection and little crispy like I like them. It was fresh, hot and oh so good. Their lunch specials are the perfect size for lunch. I can't wait to go back. I'm telling you, I've tried all the other Chinese food places from Paso to Santa Maria and couldn't find one I liked. I'm so glad I gave Mei's a second chance. DO NOT order take out, sit there and enjoy your nice hot meal. I guarantee it's worth it.
The food is good. Definitely worth driving for. Prices are up a bit. $20 for shrimp and snow peas. $17 for king pao chicken. $7 to make it a dinner soup, egg roll, shrimp appetizer, rice). Sort of a dive, but who cares if the food is good. Service is excellent. 15 steep stairs to the restroom.
