Island Mix Restaurant and Lounge

It's been a while since I've been to Island Mix for lunch. Their menu offers a mix of Caribbean and Caribbean Chinese food. They also have a full-service bar, a couple of pool tables, and entertainment in the evenings. There are locations in Oshawa, Vaughan, and Kitchener. I had their Curry Chicken with rice for lunch. It was falling apart a bit but the flavour wasn't bad. Good portion. It's also available with roti instead of rice.

I was really looking forward to trying out this new local restaurant in Vaughan, especially after hearing rave reviews about their Pickering location. Unfortunately, my experience was less than satisfactory. The menu and drink options were very limited, with several items already sold out. The waitress was consistently rude whenever we tried to order more items, even ignoring us at times. At one point, when we ordered another bucket of beer, she made a condescending remark in a very disrespectful tone. This behavior was completely unacceptable, especially considering the amount of money we spent on our meal and drinks for our party of three. The food was mediocre at best, lacking flavor and quality. Even as a West Indian restaurant, we were disappointed in the taste of the duck, wontons, and chicken wings. The wine selection was also disappointing, with limited options available. The glass given to me was dirty and used, and I had to request a clean one from the bartender after being ignored by the waitress. To top it off, a 20% tip was automatically added to our bill without our consent, which I had to have removed. I advise others to carefully check their bills for any hidden fees. Despite the live DJ music on the patio being enjoyable, the overall experience was very disappointing. There are much better West Indian restaurants in the city, so I would not recommend wasting your time at this establishment.

The jerk fried rice and chicken here are amazing. This is a great spot to grab takeout, but not the best for dining in. They have a wide variety of hot sauce options available as well.

We’re not from Scarborough .. so let me say .. this place gets real Scarborough late at night. Just ratchet. Went there for dinner, the food was good. Our sever Amir was amazing ! But then the music started and the people started coming in, and it was time to go. They also need to invest in a little bit more salt in the food. Or at least leave some on the table lol
