The staff at this restaurant have a very negative and disrespectful attitude towards customers. I would advise against coming here if you expect to be treated with courtesy and respect.
Been here a couple times and overall it’s a good spot with ok food. However, my first time was utter disappointment because the waiter guy just left us standing at the door, and people were finishing and leaving the tables, and he never checked in on us. We asked if the tables were ready (obviously there are many empty tables) and he actually said no and told us to wait outside if we want. Hmmmm But the next few times he was nice. Maybe he had a bad day idk
The food was delicious. I ordered crispy pork rice and deokboki. I requested both to be super mild spicy, and they met my request. The dishes were not overly spicy but still full of flavor. The textures were great, and the service was excellent. The crispy pork rice was particularly tasty. The restaurant was very clean with a pleasant atmosphere. The noise level was just right, not too loud or too quiet. It was moderately busy during dinner time but there were still some empty tables available.
UTown is by far the best Korean food in UCity. Their items are all very reasonably priced, banchan is free (expected, I know, but some Korean places in Philly charge for it!!! , and everything is delicious. The wide variety of vegetarian options makes it easy to bring any group here, and menu items are marked as spicy or not spicy. I have a low spice tolerance but got a soon doo boo anyways, and the spice was not at all overwhelming.U Town is a popular spot for penn students especially on Friday and Saturday nights, so be prepared to wait ~20 minutes if they're busy. Service is fast once you're inside, so I would say it's worth the wait.
