Bidrage med feedbackWe recently spent 10 days at Apex Mountain with some friends over the Christmas break. After a long day on the mountain there is no better place for Après than the Gunbarrel. We were there most afternoons sitting by the fire and enjoying the hospitality of the Pentiction locals who are more than willing to have a chat and share some inside knowledge about the mountain and the region. The Caesars, hot wings, nachos and Cuba Libre's are highly recommended and there is a great range of beers on tap.One of the real highlights of our many visits was the chance to try the famous Gunbarrel Coffee which was invented at Apex more than 30 years ago. I won't spoil the surprise but just make sure you try one!
Our Server was Fabulous! For a quiet Saturday night, he had a number of tables to look after and was the only Server we saw in the restaurant that night. He was friendly, knowledgeable, and gave us some great skiing tips. Food was average (nothing special, but not something you just couldn't eat either). I would not call it fine dining but was still very good. The steak dish had some excellent unique flavors and the weekend slow roast special was EXCELLENT (it was a open face prime rib sandwich slow cooked to perfection with a nice smokey taste). Chicken Taco's were okay. French onion soup was good for a nice light ski lunch as was the Chili. As it is the only sit down restaurant/bar at the ski hill, we were able to try a variety of fare. Service on the bar side was also excellent. For a fun treat, order the gunbarrel coffee. It is a very fun showcase that only a couple of the servers are fully trained for! Very entertaining for 12 dollars and some of the proceeds go to the local fire department!
We are Okanagan locals and regulars at Apex Mountain. We headed up to the hill with our visiting family for dinner at the Gunbarrel and a night of tubing. I have always enjoyed the pub fare at the barrel but I was so delighted to see the new menu. There were so many items I wanted to try. I decided on the cassoulet and was not disappointed. It was the ideal pre-tubing fare - warm, hearty, rich and absolutely delicious. Fine dining perfect for a ski hill. An added bonus was the option to order my son's meal from the pub menu still available for customers at the saloon. Can't wait to go back.
The last few years the food wasn't too great, but 3 of us went today and all loved our meals! I had a portabella mushroom sandwich with upscale goodies including goat cheese with sour cherries. And apparently the pulled pork and crispy chicken were wonderful too. Excellent service as well!
Goods times to be had on that mountain, Brewskis, buddies and braless women. Great beer! Good eats! Awesome venue for fun!
