Bidrage med feedbackThe town of Reine-Marguerite is considered the oldest square in Pau. With its Cobblestones, its fountain in the middle and fully walking it is a pleasant area to be, especially if you are at one of the few outdoor tables of the... 'Pau's Café'. "Artisan Torrefacteur", a craftsman coffee roaster, stands under the sign of the place. A very friendly lady was responsible. We ordered a 'café espresso du jour' for me while my wife tried to get something similar to the 'Café crème', we are used in Switzerland. The lady brought her a double espresso with milk. It was very good coffee, roasted by itself. With this we chose from the display in two 'Aragostine' as they were called here. Something we know better than 'Sfogliatelle', although the other word also has Italian roots derived from 'aragosta', i.e. lobster coming from the view of the pastry. No wonder in the USA it is also known as 'Lobster Tail'. We had one with a lemon, the other with a pistachio filling. Excellent. We then also took a look inside, where there are original seats between machines and other objects of a coffee roastery. With various products for sale in wall shelves, the place is also a boutique of a shop. There are spices, jams, chocolates, coffees, teas, canned sardines, but also non-food items such as cups. If I live in Pau, my wife and I would probably be regular here.
We had good coffee and pastries here. Beautiful comfortable seating on the back of the shop. Many interesting coffee related things to buy. Very cool.
