Bidrage med feedbackThis was a nice caffe, handy for gare de lyon, where we ate the first night at the arrival. the workers were helpful, although they were busy. the menu was nice and the food was good. would it like to eat again next year if I stayed again...locally again.
Tuna steak with salat and sardines was the best fish meal I had in a few years. perfect combination of ingredients.
While waiting for a train I have in the past had lunch in ‘Le Train Blue’ but I find it has lost most of it’s charm in recent years and has become way to expensive. A much better idea is to venture out of the...station to this place. It doesn’t look much from the outside, no bright lights or shiny brass but once inside you are ushered to a comfortable table, given menus, asked if you would like an aperitif etc., ie all the good service that is required for the beginning of a pleasant lunch it puts you into a good frame of mind and inspires confidence. The food is fairly standard brasserie, with some specials and plats de jour, all served rapidly and efficiently. Good, perfectly cooked entrecôte steak and delicious fries €22,80), Cantal cheese burger and fries €18,50), tasty desserts less than €10 all make for a reasonably priced lunch. Wine list was tiny but we had a good bottle of Gigondas for €36,00, and a glass of surprisingly pleasant white Gaillac at €5,10. Coffee only €2,60. Excellent service from a friendly and engaging waitress. I prefer this place to the Européenne two doors down.
Food was pretty average. The Salade Parisienne had so much strong dressing that we left half of it, and the Salade Ceasar had ingredients that were not on the menu nor traditional of a Ceasar salad (tomato slices, eggs) the wrong type of dressing...and salad. The burgers and Club Sandwich were pretty tasteless. We won't be back.
We had dinner there once, food was ok. Late night snacks. Great place to grab a drink or two anytime of the day. They stayed opened late. Staff was very attentive no matter how busy it gets.
