Sous Les Cerisiers - Paris

This is a real japanese experience. The real thing. Forget the normal sushi roles, this sushi is absolutely amazing. The Dourade steamed and on a bed of rice was superb. This restaurant is family run by a Japanese couple. The atmosphere is warm, greeted with a plum wine followed by Japanese whiskies and Sake. The presentation of the food is an art with lots of attention to detail. I definitely recommend this restaurant.

I seldom write a bad review for a restaurant. In fact I think this might be my first but I felt compelled to share my experience. Yesterday, I booked a dinner for two at Sous les Cerisiers in Paris. The description of the prix fixe offer had been completely changed. I pointed this out to the waiter and he immediately went and got the manager. I politely told her the same and her instant response was: “it’s covid, we changed and if you don’t like it, you can go somewhere else”. I was shocked. I said I did not mind that the ingredients had changed and understood but that if your prix fixe offered two appetizers, one entree and a desert, this is what was expected. She flat out said no. “You get one appetizer, one entree and one desert” and rudely repeated “if you don’t like it, go somewhere else”. We did... and as luck would have it stumbled onto a stunning Japanese restaurant called Yen on rue Saint Benoit where we enjoyed an exceptional dinner.

My husband drove myself and my son to the restaurant. We had previously ordered from deliveroo and i thought the food was quite good so insisted that we visit them. When we arrived we could not find parking so decided to order take away. That is when it all began. The folks that took my order told me all i could order was the bento box which was fine with me but then they told me some items that were listed on the menu for the bento box such as miso soup i couldn’t have because i was ordering it take out. This comment didn’t make sense to me especially since I could order the individually and pay extra. When I asked about this because it didn’t make sense they people taking my order got upset. First when the food was ready instead of handing it over to me politely they shoved it at me. At first I was baffled and thought perhaps i misunderstood but then they proceeded to throw the check at me to pay. When i confronted them about their behavior and stated that i felt as though they didn’t want my business they then took the food away from me and proceeded to ignore me. I started to tell them that i had discovered their restaurant on deliveroo and came specifically to try the restaurant but decided to leave since they continued to ignored me. I have never seen such rude behavior by a restaurant and experienced such bad customer service. This is a shame because the food is quite good but the people skills are horrible so we will never set foot in this restaurant. We hope others follow our example because restaurants such as this one need to understand the value of a customer..::And that they can’t expect to treat customers any old way and stay in business. Word does spread!

Under the cherry trees offers refined and good quality cuisine. The plates are nicely presented.
