NM Cafe at Neiman Marcus - Palo Alto

I ordered the Cioppino, which is new to the menu. It was okay. But, Cioppino is somewhat of a “messy” dish to eat. Providing a cocktail fork would be appropriate and perhaps even the obligatory bib. Picking up clam shells, oyster shells and crab claws with your fingers requires a bit of finesse. Perhaps even providing an additional napkin would be advised…

The food was great. However, it was very expensive. It was a special Mother’s Day menu, and many of the items were pricey. However, the portions were good. There was a few mistakes, but they were quickly fixed. Usually they come by and offer popovers more than once… We were not offered them again other than when we first sat down. The famous chocolate chip cookies were not good. I don’t know if it was an off day… the lemonade cake was great!

Wonderful lunch with friends and family. Great service with Sam as our waiter.

Stanford Shopping Center always offers a dependable dining option. The staff is friendly and helpful. The popovers with strawberry butter are a must-try. What more can be said?
