Long Rifle Lodge - Palmer

We stopped at this restaurant for lunch during our glacier tour, and we were really impressed. Our waitress was incredibly friendly and made us feel very welcome. The food was excellent, making it the perfect spot after our four-hour hike on the glacier. They have a great selection of local beers, too! The onion rings were exceptional, and the burgers were generously portioned and expertly cooked. I can't recommend this place highly enough—be sure to grab a table in the back for a fantastic view of Glacier Valley and the local wildlife. Just a friendly reminder: please don’t touch the animals!

After a long day of working on the river and with it being our last night in the area, my husband and I decided to have dinner at this restaurant. When we arrived, it was quite empty, which is often the case outside of peak season, but the weather was lovely. Russell, the owner, took care of us, and we ordered the Clunky Goat Salad (I believe that was the name) and some spicy mushroom burgers. The food was delicious, and everything tasted incredibly fresh. We truly enjoyed our meal. We were so full that we had to skip dessert (a "Blaubeer crisis"!); it was definitely a fantastic experience!

I regret not dining in at this restaurant. We visited with a large group and intended to eat and leave quickly. While waiting for our orders to be ready, we couldn’t help but admire the stunning interior decor and the lovely view from both inside and the deck. Your burgers were fantastic! There were also two large but friendly dogs that clearly hoped we'd share some of our delicious burgers with them. We didn’t, of course, as we know that isn't good for their health, but they were well-behaved and didn't beg or interfere with our meal. I really appreciated their good temperament.

The view itself is worth 5 stars. View of the mountains and a glacier and a good cold beer. That makes it for me. The food was also delicious. We had a burger and a salad were both amazing. The prices were very reasonable. I loved everything about the place. Five stars.

5 stars for the great location. Sip a beer looking at the beautiful Matanuska glacier. The food was delicious. If you get hold of the corner spot overlooking the glacier, you could spend endless time just staring at the beauty. The lodge has great all wood ambience with taxidermy Alaskan wild animals. I got the grilled salmon sandwich and was pretty good.
