There are many tourist restaurants in Palma and my husband said ‘we are not going into a restaurant called Sinbads!’ we did and he was glad we did. In fact we went there twice. The food and service were very good. The crispy cod and octopus (said husband) were delicious and the hamburger was also good. stay. You can either sit on the footpath with many people and pigeons or you can sit inside (which we did) where it was less crowded and more peaceful. It also appeared to be a very clean restaurant.
Last night we went to Sinbad restaurant in Marbesa. Unfortunately the food was terrible. We have been going there for years as we used to really like it and it’s our local restaurant. The restaurant has a lovely setting and ambiance but the food has been going downhill. I’d heard that it had been taken over but the staff deny it. The menu has changed… some of our favorites have been taken off and you can no longer change the accompaniments. If you want chips instead of jacket potatoes which is actually dried up sliced potato) then you have to pay extra. The vegetables are the mushy frozen variety from a packet and three renowned goats cheese salad was pathetic looking. I complained to the manageress but she just shrugged her shoulders. For a Saturday night, it was empty so perhaps other people have decided not to go back because unless they get their act together we won’t.
A beautiful place, in a privileged place and an exceptional meal! We will respect for sure and recommend congratulations to the entire team of Simbad!
We have been customers of Sinbads over a period of 15 years on our one week Autumn breaks. The propriatress, Maria, always remembers you and makes you feel welcome. Her memory is incredible as she asks about people who have been with us on previous trips. The menu is a straightforward mix of Mallorcan and European fare. We have sampled both and always enjoyed the food, even if the portions are a bit on the large size!! Particular favourite are the Suckling Pig and Tumbet (a Mallorcan dish a bit like Ratatouille with potatoes). The view from the window or outdoor seats over the bay is wonderful. This is not nouvelle cuisne or high class gastronomy, just good old fashioned food which adults and children can enjoy.
