Jillian's - Palm Desert

Jillian’s came highly recommended by colleagues in Chicago, so I visited with two well-known surgeons who had just finished speaking at a conference. Unfortunately, we arrived too late for our reservation. Excitedly, we found seats at the bar and received excellent service. When we inquired about ordering food, the staff initially said it wasn’t possible but would check with the manager. A very attentive hostess soon approached us and offered to accommodate us with a table outside. However, shortly after, the owner confronted us in a very confrontational manner, stating that she wouldn’t accommodate us because we missed our reservation and were inconsiderate. It’s important to note that both doctors I was with are Black. We settled our bill, expressed our gratitude to the bartenders for their excellent service, and left. I will NEVER return.

I had been looking forward to dining here for weeks. While some of the staff were genuinely friendly, a few others were quite rude. The atmosphere of the restaurant was beautiful, but unfortunately, the food took a long time to arrive and was truly disappointing; I hardly ate any of it but didn't want to be impolite, so I left most of it untouched. When the owner came over to ask why I didn't enjoy the meal, I politely mentioned that it was undercooked and had an unpleasant texture (it was some sort of ravioli). He seemed very offended and responded rudely, even though I had apologized. When I got home, I became violently ill shortly after. Given the high prices, small portions, and mediocre service, I definitely won't be returning. I'm really bummed about the whole experience.

Everything about the dining experience at Jillian’s is unique and incomparable. I started with a refreshing Moscow mule and indulged over fresh made bread, which paired perfectly with the veal cheeks special which was so tender and the house made pasta really made the dish unforgettable! The eclectic cuisine and ambiance is nothing like I have ever experienced. The staff is so welcoming and made the perfect suggestions when deciding what delicious entrees to pick. Jay and June have created an experience that cannot be duplicated. I cannot wait to come back!

This was my first visit and we have booked reservations for next month to bring our out of town guests. The food, service and atmosphere were over the top. The food and company were spot on.
