Bidrage med feedbackGigi eat is a palermo institution, they know it more or less all having remained in the same position for decades and with the same Oste/owner, which undoubtedly adds a touch of personality and sympathy to the experience. preserve the same excellent quality of raw materials. The problem is probably in this static cat. I'll explain. going to gigi eat 10 years ago or going yesterday means living the same experience, finding more or less the same menu and the same presentations of the dishes. that is not necessarily an evil is clear, if then the result is to find traditional dishes that force you to ask the bis as exalted. You can't go to a Bolognese tavern and wait for the ragout cake, you want handmade spaghetti and the ragù cooked by the owner's grandmother, and you already know you don't want to get up from the table. the problem from gigi is that (personally speaking of course) this feeling I did not have, I ate discreetly and the presence of the bear was definitely a good point in favor, but I did not rise with the desire to return. presentations of some appetizers with cut tomatoes and parsley in the adilation perfectly sums up the fact that everything from gigi eat stopped a few decades ago and seems waiting for a strong change that seems inevitable. P.s is not my habit of talking about prices because the quality you pay, always, but I can say that I am disappointed also from this point of view.
Very recommended, good food, great weine. super service
For our first meal in Palermo our hotel had recommended and reserved us a table at Gigi Mangia. The place was very busy on a late Sunday lunchtime but we were swiftly seated and served. The food was perfectly acceptable, we started with the Gran Tagliere which was very good comprising a wide varieties of cold meats and cheese. For the main course I had the Stinco di Maiale which was very large and left me completely full to the brim. We sampled two wines both of which were OK.
That was a recommendation of a friend. in a street full of restaurant served this hotel excellent eating along with service.
The food was excellent but extremely slow well over an hour for a starter and approaching two for the main. It was very difficult to attract the attention of the staff to get a knife. The bill was wrong and the waitress struggled to correct it. On the other hand the arancina was probably the best I have had and both my rolled lamb and my husband’s pasta were excellent.
