Thai Elephant - Padstow

Red Elephant is an interesting little Thai restaurant with enough quirks to make writing a review quite a tricky endeavour.

Google search for an Asian cuisine brought us to Thai Elephant restaurant in Padstow. First look from outside didn't inspire us much due its limited tables & modest decoration but seeing good number of people having dinner on a Thursday evening pushed us in.Four of us ordered Snapper steamed with lemon& sauce , Pad Thai, Friendly Stir-Fried, Sizzling Sea Food, Salt & Spicy Prawn, and Thai fried rice. Food tasted fresh, delicious and authentic Thai. Snapper, Salt & Spicy Prawn, and Pad Thai noodles need special mention. Too bad the portion wasn't that much generous to have sated our famishing stomachs, had to order another round of mixed platter (friendly stir fried). Now we knew why this restaurant was buzzing with customers on a Thursday eve. Staff were very friendly, efficient and served customers with a big smile. Prices are reasonable and restaurant very clean, although a bit small place for a busy joint like it was.

We ordered take away on a Monday night. Good was ready within 15/20 mins of calling. Staff was friendly and there were a few tables busy for a Monday night. The food was delicious. Salt and pepper squid/calamari - awesome. 10/10!The chicken panang curry was yum too. We also had the friendly stir fried - chicken, prawns, squid - was goodOnly complaint is the large coconut rice was not large enough. Highly recommended

Having lived in Padstow for over 8 years, this Thai restaurant is the best in the town --hands down. Food and service are consistent and the kids love their fried rice, satay chicken and soft shell crab. Have had plenty of dinner and a few lunches--always good.

Good service and great food. Can get a little noisy at night. Staff are very attentive. Tried just about everything on the menu and never have had a disapointing dish.
