Bidrage med feedbackThis is an icon in Malibu. My first date with my wife was in this restaurant. This restaurant takes a certain place in our hearts. After spending an afternoon at El Matador State Beach, we came here to eat on the way back. I was surprised when I called the restaurant to make reservations and the receptionist told me there was no waiting time. It was a Thursday night at 7 p.m., the restaurant was only half full. I remember the pandemic, this place was always packed and waiting was always long. After we sit down and tried to order food, our waiter needed a long time to show up at our table. It looked like he was very busy when he served many tables. It took a long time for our food to come. We had muted mussels, Linguine with Sampi and Linguine with mussel. All the dishes tasted like they used the same sauce and they were too salty. I remember, steamed mussels were cooked with wine and butter, tasted fantastic. It was definitely an unsatisfactory meal. And the surroundings seemed depressing when the restaurant looked out. We also noticed that the prices for the food went up. But with this kind of service and moderate food, I can see why the restaurant business was gone. It is sad to see that Gladstone had turned into this state. I hope the mangement would make some changes to this legendary restaurant.
I had not been here in a really really long time. It's much more casual than I remember from years ago but still amazing food and just steps away from the ocean. Prices are fair for what you're getting. Service was pretty good. She was attentive and nice. I brought my friend from out of town who'd never been to the California coast before so she loved it ??
Used to be one of the best restaurant in Malibu Beach area. Do not expect good service. You have to wait for services with patients. Patio is good when is not windy otherwise stay inside. Check in desk at entrance was very nice. She takes you to the table with good smile. Enjoy your afternoon at the beach!
Unfortunately not that great as it used to be? food was ok, but in what universe this should be mashed potatoes ? I really don?t know. The chef ??? should rethink the making of? really? And in general, the place should go over some remodeling. It?s about time. The flair of the location by itself doesn?t last forever. Will come back, as I do since 1997, but hope for the better.
I've been coming here for over 20 years but never really cared for the food that much. It's just about the views and their clam chowder! The ahi tuna sandwich was very salty. The tuna tartar didn't have much taste, and the mustard didn't really compliment it in my opinion. It also came with just three chips, and we had to ask for more. One beer, a **** mary, a cup of clam chowder and the two dishes came to about $70. You be the judge. I'd say pretty standard for LA prices.
