Zack's Grille - Oxford

I had a late lunch at Zack today. The service was great and fast; the food was great. Definitely up there with the best burgers I've ever had. You get more pommes than you can eat; it's just a great place! He hopes they will start for dinner!

My husband and I had lunch there today, and it was a wonderful experience. The place was spotless, the food was delicious, and the staff were incredibly friendly. Although our onion rings were slightly overcooked, the chef noticed and brought us a fresh batch with an apology. The service was outstanding, and our burgers tasted fantastic! Oxford really needed an affordable burger joint that isn’t fast food. The only downside is that they're only open until 3:00 PM and closed on Sundays, so we can only visit on Saturdays. I can't recommend this place highly enough!

I went for lunch with a family group, the day after Thanksgiving. Expectations were not high....but it turns out that Zacks is fantastic. It is a local, family-run café. Motivated, friendly staff. Very limited Burger style menu, but what they have, they add their own special flair. You can have the best onion rings on the planet. Thin string style with flocky, peppery bread. My BLT was Spot-on, the burgers were classic, perfectly cooked/seasonal. A proposal for improvement would be to offer pints of local brews. A Rye IPA from Cheaha Brewing would be a perfect match with my BLT and rings. A member of our group asked if they could make the special roasted shrimp that they only serve on Friday Saturday night, they were happy to commit. And they were good. Prices were very low in view of the high quality of ingredients. These people deserve every penny. I'm thrilled to finally find a Mom-and-Pop burger joint in Oxford! The burgers are made fresh and cooked to order. I got the classic cheeseburger with my favorite toppings, and it was nearly more than I could eat... almost! LOL The fries are fresh-cut shoestrings, and while they were quite tasty, on both occasions I visited, they were a bit lukewarm and could have used a little more cooking time. My husband ordered the double cheeseburger with onion rings, and he thought the burger was fantastic, but he was unsure about the onion rings. I saw posts on Facebook raving about them, but my husband received extremely thin onion strings (about 1/16 inch), which was definitely not what he expected, and he found them difficult to eat. The restaurant itself is very clean, with nice and interesting decor and great background music. A few of the staff members who take orders and handle the checkout could use a little refinement in their customer service skills, but once your order is placed, your food is freshly cooked and served quickly. I'd love to see this restaurant extend its hours to stay open in the evenings. The burger is fantastic, but I can only give it 4 stars because my fries weren’t hot enough and my husband received onion pieces instead of proper onion rings.

I just got home and finished my double cheeseburger, and I have to say, this place is an absolute hidden gem. I was thrilled by how well the food was seasoned. The texture of the beef in the burger was perfect, and the flavor was spot on. Honestly, I’m shocked that places like Wendy’s even get any business with this gem around. I can’t recommend this place enough! I told the two guys who took my order that if their food tasted good, I'd definitely come back, and they’ve officially made me a regular. Seriously, it’s a 10/10—I won’t be going to McDonald’s or Burger King as long as I’m in Oxford. The onion rings were unlike any I’ve had in a long time, and I’m enjoying every single bite.
