Bidrage med feedbackThe best thing about this place is that you can bring your own wine. The steak is just okay, but the salmon is superb. The restaurant is quiet and the service is efficient. Overall, it is a great place for a meal.
A BIT expensive for what we got (were 3). Service was ok but could improve. Restaurant was not full on Thursday evening. Order what they have usually: quality of filet mignon is to be,selected differently. Would not reject but need improvements — a great deal....
I had been wanting to go to one of these restaurants for several months after seeing their appealing ads and their Bring your own wine policy. First tried the St-Bruno location which was closed after 2:00 p.m. so ended up on the Laurier Avenue location...at 5:00 p.m. sharp. It was located on the second floor up a long steep staircase. If you need to go to the restroom, it is at the top of another long staircase on the third floor. The decor was appealing and the waitress well travelled and very pleasant. With no one else there for another half-hour, we had all her attention ! The only thing outstanding in our meal were the Belgian fries at will. The fried calamari were a little soggy, the steaks were tasteless and fairly tender but not the best in that regard and the sauce that came with them very watery and bland. After trying the dull pepper sauce, I asked for the dijon sauce with the same result and didn't use either. To add insult to injury, they did charge me us for the second sauce. The $77 tab for two was too high for the quality of the food with no wine included.
The steak and fries at this restaurant are very reminiscent of France. Given that Montreal has a strong French influence, this is a great spot to enjoy these classic French flavors. While nothing extraordinary, the food is good, affordable, and the service is excellent. It's a fantastic option for a casual lunch!
My wife and I were shopping in the area. The bargain price of nine dollars for a hamburger, pommes and a bottle of soft drinks brought us into the door. We ate dinner and enjoyed it at one of the other Steak Frites locations.... The decor in this restaurant is dark and simple. The restaurant has two floors. There is a large window overlooking Laurier Street on the front of the restaurant for both floors. Our hamburger was served in a different kind of bread. The bread was delicious, but the waiter couldn't tell me his guy. The hamburger was on the small side, but perfect for us. The meal came with mayonnaise and ketchup, but no mustard or relish for the hamburger. Our waiter was friendly, friendly and helpful. The time was at 1:00, and there were very few other customers.
