Meatings Barbecue - Ottawa

Well for our gathering it was a wide selection off the menu. Two had the sample combo meals.1 had the brisket and i had the ribs. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals. I tried a bite of chicken off another plate and found it succulent and very tasty my ribs were perfect extremely tender yet firm with the bbq sauce on the side. That is very important they did not mask their meat with sauce as there was no need. The sides the beans unanimously wone best side dish for us unfortunately i ordered the corn on the cob wich was just bad,dry and useless parmesean shavings on it. Kinda of disappointing. The homemade lemonade was delicious. The seating area is very small with communal type seating. The kitchen is open so you can see in. I did see one of the chefs using his hands to build a plate. I know that is common practice in kitchens and i assume his hands were clean but still with an open concept wich i applaud hairnets and gloves are mandatory.Back to the meat......just spetacular thinking about it right now makes me hungry. Lets face it with a restraunt name like theirs its all about the meat.

I don't know about the rest of you out there but I have to admit this was the best smoke ribs this side of the border and in Orleans. Wow awesome service and great menu offerings. Plenty of parking and quick take outs. Will try the Brisket next week.

Our family loooves bbq, however we were very disappointed with our first experience here at Meatings.The restaurant itself has very little seating so we had to take our food to go and change our lunch plans as we hadn't realised how tiny a sitting area this place had.The wait for our order was rather long, considering everything we had ordered was (presumably) ready to box/plate and serve. We tried the brisket, pulled pork, beans and grilled pineapple. Here's the issue: Everything was way too over-seasoned. I am a huge salt lover and the brisket was nearly inedible. Even the pulled pork was overly salty. I am sure it was a one-off, but after you have paid for your meal (and a hefty price, I might add) and had to drag it to another place to eat because you couldn't just eat at the restaurant, you are then met with the tremendous disappointment of your food being overly salted. I had no recourse since I was miles away from the resto by then. I was going to call them to ask what was up, but never did. We have yet to try this place again and I really want to but the hubby is not on board.

Really enjoyed the beef brisket sandwich but the prices seem a bit exaggerated. Considering the few seats to eat comfortably, the prices should be a little lower.

We picked up an order of pulled pork, tacos and sausages. All of the food was quite tasty including the sides!The prices were a tad higher than expected for the food received. E.g $5 for a personal side?Good food, good service and will eat there again, but not too often given the overall cost of the meal.
