Golden Star Chinese Food - Ottawa

Like many other Chinese restaurants, Golden Star offers both Szechuan and Cantonese fare, with pretty much the same dishes as anywhere else. I ordered

Tonight I decided to treat myself to some takeout, so I just got back from picking up my order at Golden Star.

I didn't feel like going all the way to China town under the crazy rain so we decided to give this place a try. The Food was bland , watery and one dish was so spicy we couldn't eat it ( let me say we love spicy food but this was way too spicy our tongues felt like they were on fire , you couldn't taste anything else ). We tried a lil bit of everything and it was all bad . We had garlic wings, black bean beef , golden star beef ( this was the extra spicy dish that's suppose to be a house special but it was the worst.) We had dish n3 so we could try the garlic ribs and chicken balls. We also shared a hot and sour soup. Everything was bland , lacked flavour and salt . We paid 60$ for a terrible meal. I won't be going back to this place . Warning - Don't waste your money like we did .

We ordered takeaway for delivery one Friday evening.Firstly delivery was late, although they did phone to say they would be delayed.Most of the food was bland, the spare ribs were pretty good, but the crispy beef was inedible, not so much crispy but burnt to a cinder, so bad in fact we had to throw it out. Portions weren't great either for the money.This is a local restaurant to out house but we certainly wont be ordering from them again.

We ordered takeout food, which we carried to our nearby home. The dishes were lacking in flavour and freshness. Egg rolls were a little soggy and seemed to contain some kind of mystery ingredient. Even though there is no other Chinese eatery nearby, we wouldn't return.
