Bidrage med feedbackMy wife and I went to this restaurant for dinner to celebrate her birthday. We were impressed by the blanc sparkling wine, the appetizers (mussels in green sauce and corn chowder), the main courses (gnocchi and trout), and the dessert (butterfinger cake), as the flavors were exceptional. The service from our waiter and hostess was excellent, and we were impressed by the attention to detail. This restaurant has now become our favorite in Ottawa. To top off the great experience, our waiter and chef kindly comped our first round of blanc wine, possibly because we enjoyed every dish they served us. The service was quick despite a busy dining room, and the menu has plenty of options to choose from. I recommend checking it out online beforehand to make deciding easier.
Gezellig, the third restaurant in the Stephen Beckta franchise located in Westboro Village, opened its doors in 2012 in a former bank building. This was my first time dining at Gezellig and I regret not trying it sooner. We were warmly welcomed and our coats were taken to a cloak room. Our table by the window offered a lovely view of Westboro village. Our server was knowledgeable and made us feel at ease. We started with the seasonal Hibiscus Margarita cocktail, garnished with candied hibiscus leaves, which was absolutely delicious. The bread and flavored olive oil (lemon and tarragon) served with our cocktails were also excellent. Our appetizers were devoured and we still had room for our main courses. The lamb shank I ordered was tender and flavorful, while my dining companion's chicken was surprisingly delicious with sweet potato, curried spaghetti squash, and beet sauce. We ended with dessert and lattes feeling satisfied and relaxed. The service was initially fast, but after requesting a slower pace, our server ensured we had a leisurely dining experience. Gezellig offers a mix of relaxed and formal dining with attentive staff and superb food. I had a wonderful time and the food exceeded my expectations. I am very happy to have dined here and will definitely return. A fantastic local spot close to home! #tastemakers #ottawamagazine #edibleottawa #tasty #yummy #delish #foodie #ottawaeats #ottawafoodie #westboro #newottawarestaurants
I had a fantastic dinner with my girlfriends at this restaurant tonight. There were five of us and we are a lively group. The friend who made the reservation mentioned that our last dinner lasted four hours, so we were seated at a quiet table in the back corner where we could talk and laugh without disturbing others. The food was excellent and the service was friendly and attentive. The waitress even offered to make a non-alcoholic cocktail for our friend who doesn't drink, so she could enjoy the featured strawberry lemon drink. I would definitely come back here again or recommend it to others without hesitation.
Great restaurant. Some of the most genuine, friendly staff I've ever met, and wonderful food. When I sat down, the waiter had remembered me from having called to make my reservation and went as far as to shake my hand as an introduction. I appreciated that. The food was really good as well. Not too much of any one flavour, and enough that you were excited for each bite. I'd recommend this restaurant to anyone that asks me.
Ah Gezellig's (restaurant)!!! Both Shea and I had the beef tartare and the Gezellig salad for lunch today -each and every bite truly a joy... At the end of the meal, Shea mentioned to the waiter that these were the best bacon bits she has ever tasted in a salad... a few moments later a plate of just bacon bits and bread showed up... what a classy restaurant...
