Elmdale Oyster House & Tavern - Ottawa

This is a fantastic spot with a wide variety of tasty dishes. I recently visited for my best friend's birthday celebration and we had an amazing experience. I highly recommend this restaurant for its delicious seafood options.

Elmdale Tavern has a great atmosphere and an elevated menu. There were 7 of us, 3 generations. We enjoyed several apps (lobster arancini, popcorn shrimp, shrimp tacos) then lobster and shrimp grilled cheese and chowder. Good selection of craft beers. The music was great, noisy and fun atmosphere (but we could all hear each other). Great food, great service. Highly recommend

Went on a Tuesday night so it was a cosy collection of regulars and a few dates.The drinks punctuate an awesome menu. The team are fun and down for a chat. And Jason's cute.

We went on a Friday evening, and everyone was happy with their meal. I had the lobster roll, my husband had the fish and chips, and my friend had the vegetarian option chef created on demand. It was all delicious, but I would have liked the lobster roll without mini shrimp added. Also, it would have been nice with a bit of chopped celery and more mayo, but it was still very good! The place was rather loud when we first arrived at 6:30pm, but then quieted shortly after. The only real complaint is that the seats were not comfortable. My husband had a very hard time because the chair seat was very narrow, and I didn't like that the seats were not padded. Otherwise had a great time and enjoyed our food!Vegetarian options: My friend said it was really good! There was rice, avocado, brussel sprouts and more.

This restaurant is amazing with fresh oysters and seafood. The staff is super accommodating, providing great service in a fun, laid-back setting perfect for a date night or meeting up with friends. The live music and $2 oysters on Thursdays are a huge bonus! Be sure to make a reservation as it's a small place.
