Civico26 - ORTA SAN GIULIO

I was in Orta yesterday, for the third time in the last five years. God willing, I will return there again, because I find Orta a fascinating place, where you are left speechless in admiration at every step. Yesterday I visited the wonderful church of Santa Maria Assunta and explored some of the many alleys of Orta, which I had not seen in my two previous visits. Another feature that attracts me to this location is that the center is closed to traffic. But precisely in relation to traffic I have to make a criticism, being a hard and pure pedestrian , that is, not having a driving license and moving exclusively on foot, by bicycle or by public transport. So yesterday too I reached Orta by train, and then... risked my life on the stretch that connects the station to the peninsula. Both in via Marconi and on the parallel via San Giovanni Bosco, there is no sidewalk, and motorists speed by in their vehicles without caring about the possible presence of pedestrians. I hope that no investments have ever occurred on those two streets, but without a sidewalk sooner or later some pedestrian (or cyclist) will come to a bad end while traveling along via Marconi and via San Giovanni Bosco. With the revenue that the Municipality of Orta obtains from the large flow of tourists, wouldn 't it be possible to build a sidewalk on via Marconi and via San Giovanni Bosco? Another idea came to me: a free shuttle service from the station to the center of Orta operated by minibuses, possibly electric, coinciding with train arrivals. This solution could be less expensive than building sidewalks, and would still guarantee the safety of people (tourists, commuters, schoolchildren, students) who need to reach the center of Orta from the station.
