Charlies Burger, King Falafel - Orcutt

This is a classic hamburger stand experience. The Queen Burger, which is a quarter pounder, was quite satisfying, and the Individual Fries were served piping hot! As for parking, there's a drive-thru available as well. I enjoyed dining in for lunch, and the price per person ranged from $10 to $20.

I would describe this as a spot favored by locals. The atmosphere isn't anything special—just a simple building, though it appears to be clean. On the hot day we visited, there was no air conditioning. They do have a drive-thru, which takes up half of the parking lot, so it's best to park on the street. I found the burgers to be a bit overpriced for their size. While others in my group enjoyed them, I felt they lacked flavor beyond just salt. The crinkle fries were quite good, though. I often see long lines there, so I might be in the minority with my opinion. Next time, I may give the pastrami or roast beef a try.

In all my previous visits, I had always encountered friendly and polite employees who came out to take my order after I pulled up. However, that was not the case this time. After moving forward, I was met by the rudest employee I have ever encountered. She shot me a dirty look and, in the most disrespectful tone, told me that I had passed the order speaker. Is this speaker new? I've never been prompted to use it before. I was taken aback by her attitude and tried to explain that we had been looking at the menu for quite a while and hadn't been acknowledged. In response, she raised her voice and said, "WE WERE BUSY!" and “NEXT TIME YOU WAIT!” It’s important to note that we were never greeted or informed that we needed to wait. We felt extremely uncomfortable and belittled within moments of her approaching us. I decided not to place an order and we chose to leave instead, fearing that there was something truly off with this employee. If you choose to visit this restaurant, please be cautious and protect your children from the unprofessional attitude and disrespect displayed by this female employee. To the management: this is not acceptable. Your food, especially the pastrami, is fantastic—10 out of 10! But the customer service is severely lacking, and I suggest you consider hiring someone new.

After pulling forward, I encountered the rudest employee I've ever met. With a scornful look and an extremely rude tone, she told us that we had gone past the speaker to place our order. Is that speaker something new? I’ve never been prompted to use it before. I was taken aback by her attitude towards my family. I mentioned that we had been at the menu for a while without anyone saying anything, to which she yelled back, "WE WERE BUSY!! NEXT TIME YOU WAIT!!" Keep in mind that we were never greeted, acknowledged, or asked to wait. We felt extremely uncomfortable, belittled, and attacked just moments after she approached us. I refused to place my order and left out of concern for what might be wrong with this employee. If you decide to take the risk of coming here, please be cautious and protect your children from the attitude and disrespect displayed by this female employee. To the management: this is not acceptable, especially since your pastrami is fantastic—definitely a 10/10! However, your customer service is far below par. I suggest reevaluating your hiring practices.

I absolutely love their burgers! They’re always our first choice when we want a delicious and affordable meal. Plus, their zucchini fries are the best as well!
