The Flying Harpoon 2 - ORANGE BEACH

My sister and I stopped by this restaurant, thinking it was just another seafood spot. To our surprise, it turned out to be a place specializing in authentic New Orleans cuisine. We shared a 9-inch crab and crawfish cake po' boy, which came fully dressed, with remoulade sauce on the side. We have never tasted a crab cake as amazing as this one, and we grew up enjoying real Cajun cooking. We loved it so much that we decided to place takeout orders for our family back home. They also make their own potato chips, which is a nice bonus. If you visit Orange Beach, this place is a must-try—you definitely won’t regret it!

The nearest restaurant to our vacation rental close to Gulf Shores, Alabama, was The Flying Harpoon 2. One day during our stay, my family and I decided to stop by for lunch after a bike ride. We got there right when they opened at 11 A.M. A friendly employee had to unlock the door to let us in, and he kindly took the time to give us a tour of the restaurant. He even led us out back to see the alligator and turtles that live in the pond.

The restaurant was great! It's a unique little spot, and the food is made fresh from scratch, so it does take some time to receive your order. The service was excellent as well.

The Good: Food was excellent and would eat here again based on the food. Had gumbo and 2 fried seafood baskets of oysters, shrimp, and chicken. Really enjoyed the food. The Bad: Seated at 6:45 and food came at 8:33. That's an insane amount of time for fried food and gumbo that is already made. Would have been nice for someone to acknowledge the wait by checking on us, offering a drink, or taking our drinks off the check but not here. Not the waitresses fault as she was overly worked. The bill included a 3.5% charge for non cash payments. This was included on our bill but was not removed when we paid cash. Bill included in pictures. I can't recommend this restaurant based on service.

Went on a night they aren't usually open and even with short staff and long wait, the food was definitely worth the wait. Excellent seafood. Jennifer was running one level alone as well as the bar for the entire restaurant and she was calm , cool and collected. Will be back for sure.
