Smoke Pit Bar-B-Que - Omaha

This BBQ joint definitely has heart so Heartland is an appropriate name. One of the owners and her daughter was working the counter the day we got in. The brisket sandwich impressed my friends a lot, but didn't like the chopped dried bits. They ended up bringing us out some of their brisket (not diced) and that was delicious. I've noticed when it comes to BBQ, texture wise I need moisture. I'm not a huge fan of dry. The ribs were the best texture out of the 3 places we went(we did a mini Omaha BBQ tour that day). Super fatty with loose easy meat, but I didn't detect much of a smoky flavor. I'm also a huge smoke person. The sides were ok here. Beans and coleslaw were the top. The potato salad was a bit blandfor me, but it might be too others tastes. I gave this a 5 because the service was amazing. You can tell they really care about what they do. My 5 means I would love to return Still lots to try on the menu. There is a parking lot for easyaccess. This was also the brightest and most comfortable dine in of the 3 places we visited that day.

My favorite bbq place in Omaha. Always quick and friendly. They have really good sausages too if you have a chance to get them. The beans and coleslaw are top notch. I recommend getting a portion of each meat. Try to order before dinner rush.

First off...pork was great, nice and tender and juicy. Brisket...not so much. Very dry. Baked beans were good. Potato salad pretty tasteless. Service was good. Place was clean. But won't be back for awhile.

Ordered chicken sandwich special $8.50ish as of 11/2023). The special comes with chips, a fountain soda, and sauce for the sandwich. Chicken sandwich: dry, relying on the included cups of sauce for any moisture. The chicken was plentiful and overflowed out of the confines of the bun. The flavor of the chicken left room for improvement. Beyond a hint of smokiness, there was little else. The bun was soft and fluffy, but strong enough to handle its job. The soda: appropriate carbonation from the fountain. It was as expected in taste. The chips: chips were not available. I was given a 3 x2 rectangle of what resembled Jiffy cornbread. I like Jiffy, but I have to admit I did expect the cornbread to be from scratch. In any case, it did taste good. Service: nice ladies in he place. Time from order to having the food was minimal. Nice for a quick fix, but there are better BBQ places at similar prices within a short drive.

Honestly the best bbq I’ve ever had, and I’ve been to almost every bbq place in Omaha! The best ribs ever and potato salad. The beans were outstanding with slices of fruit. The also tried the home made lemonade which was tasty. I will definitely be back.
